Long-Term Disability Benefits
Full-time employees have the option to elect long-term disability benefits. Long-term disability (LTD) is income protection insurance. Employees who are out on an extended period of leave for 90 calendar days due to a personal illness or injury, and who are enrolled in an LTD plan, can receive 60% of their base monthly salary to supplement their income.
There are two plan options for LTD. One plan provides the basic income protection and one plan with an added annuity contribution benefit, which provides an additional 11% retirement income protection after 12-months of continuous leave.
Premiums vary based on an employee’s salary and age and are deducted monthly from each paycheck.
