The Leadership Institute

Step Forward

The Seminole State College of Florida Office of Student Life sponsors a series of leadership development events each year to enhance student’s personal and professional skills.  This interactive program focuses on student skill development and growth. The Retreat is made up of two different programs taking place on the same weekend.

Leadership Institute

This interactive program focuses on student skill development and growth. The Institute is made up of two different programs taking place simultaneously.

  • The Emerging Leaders Program gives students a chance to network and meet new people, while developing their leadership skills and abilities. Topics covered include situational leadership, Myers-Briggs personality theory, effective teamwork strategies, time management, getting involved in campus life, and low and high ropes elements. Emerging Leaders receive feedback from Student Life staff and their peers on the five strengths and two areas for improvement that they demonstrated while practicing their leadership skills on seven problem-solving challenges.
  • The Advanced Leaders Program provides students who have attended the Emerging Leaders Program with the opportunity to further enhance their skills by focusing on topics such as growth mindset, giving and receiving feedback, personal and team accountability, establishing a leadership philosophy, and low and high ropes elements with other advanced team members.

Space is limited and, in the case of the Emerging Leaders' Program, priority will be given to first year college students. To apply, click on the Leadership Institute Retreats link located  the page navigation.
