Open Door Grant helps students whose jobs have been impacted by COVID-19
Grant provides up to $3,000 for students enrolled in eligible programs

Seminole State College of Florida is partnering with the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) to help individuals whose employment has been impacted by COVID-19.
The Open Door Grant Program is a $35 million statewide investment to support student completion of short-term, high-demand credit and non-credit career and technical education (CTE) programs at career centers and Florida College System (FCS) institutions including Seminole State.
Funds from the Open Door Grant Program may be used to cover tuition, fees, examination, books and materials.
“The Open Door Grant Program represents our state’s continued commitment, and embrace of, workforce education,” said Kathy Hebda, Chancellor of the Florida College System. “At the department, we are proud to partner with the awarded institutions from our Florida College System and district technical colleges to provide Floridians access to affordable and accessible career and technical education aligned to the current and growing needs for talent in the workforce.”
“Seminole State is proud to partner with the Florida Department of Education on the Open Door Grant Program and promote career and technical education certificates as an alternative to the four-year university track,” said Dr. Georgia Lorenz, president of Seminole State College. “We are committed to the Florida College System to make Florida number one in the nation for workforce education.”

- Healthcare Services Specialist
- Computer Programming Specialist
- Cybersecurity
- Information Technology Analysis
- Network Server Administration
- Network Infrastructure
- Network Support Technician
- Virtualization and Cloud Computing
- Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician Combined
- Emergency Medical Technician
- Fire Academy Career Certificate
- Law Enforcement Officer
- Correctional Officer
- Correctional Officer Cross-Over Training to Florida Law Enforcement Academy
- Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration I HVAC/R
- Automotive Fundamentals
- Welding Technologies
