Becoming a Military Connected Student at Seminole State
Military Connected Student Application and Benefits Information
- Apply for Admission to Seminole State College.
- Apply for Financial Aid.
- Go to fafsa.gov and fill out this free federal application for financial aid—this is money available to you that is in addition to VA educational benefits or Tuition Assistance.
- Fill out FAFSA with Seminole State College of Florida as your school.
- The school code for the Seminole State is 001520.
- Note: Scholarships and Grants are “free money,” loans are not.
- Order your military training transcript.
- Order all college transcripts from the college’s website where you attended.
- Send all college/military transcripts to:
- Seminole State College of Florida
- Enrollment Services
- 100 Weldon Blvd.
- Sanford, FL 32773
- Get Advised (Advisor is listed in your my.seminolestate.edu portal).
- Register for classes -each class must count towards your program. Note: Military students are able to register early.
- Send all required forms (i.e., VA Certificate of Eligibility, TA funding form, DD for 214 for veterans, etc.) to vabenefits@seminolestate.edu.
- Complete a Certification Request Form (CRF).
- Get your student ID.
- Obtain a parking pass.
- Buy your books.
- Attend classes.
- Read Keys to Success.
- Apply for Tuition Assistance by following the information found on your branch's website.
- Apply for Education Dollars for Duty by following the information found on the EDD website.
- Contact your base education office if you have any questions about EDD.
- Apply for any VA educational benefit or update the school information on the Department of Veterans Affairs website.
- Create a VA account or log into va.gov in order to track your benefits.
- Provide a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) when you receive it in the mail or Statement of Benefits to the Veteran Student Services Office. (Note: you can get a Statement of Benefits from va.govonce approved for a benefit by the VA)
- Scan and email it to vabenefits@seminolestate.edu.
As a dependent using Chapter 35, you may also qualify for the Florida Scholarships for Children and Spouses of Deceased or Disabled Veterans (CSDDV) . There are eligibility requirements found on the link. One of those is that your parent who is a Veteran must have lived in Florida 365 days before receiving a 100% disability rating from the VA. This scholarship is received and applied by our financial aid office. This scholarship is not paid out during the summer, only spring and fall.
