Name: Lindsey Nolan
Title and company: Medical ICU nurse at Lakeland Regional Health
Years attended Seminole State College: 2010 - 2012
Degrees earned while at Seminole State: Associate in Arts in 2012
Degree sought following your time at Seminole State:
Associate in Science in Nursing from Polk State College.
What position did you play on the Seminole State softball team?
I played from 2010-2012 and was a pitcher.
Any favorite memory of your time, team or Coach Courtney Miller?
My favorite memory would have to be when we won states (FCSAA Region 8) my sophomore year. We may not have been the most talented team, but we came together when it mattered to have an awesome tournament and we were able to finish it off with an amazing win.
How did your experience as a student-athlete help with your life or current situation?
I think being a student-athlete has helped me in many ways with my nursing career. Being an athlete helped me stay mentally tough, which also helps in many ways with critical patients. I take care of many people that are on the brink of death so staying headstrong and sharp is important in those situations. The mental toughness was a great advantage in getting through the challenges of nursing school as well.
Can you share an uplifting story about your work that you have experienced over the last few weeks?
Although what is going on in the world has been challenging for everyone, the amount of support I have received from the community has been amazing. Many people have donated food, masks or other goodies they think would be beneficial for my team members and I throughout this crisis. I have never felt more supported or appreciated by my peers and am grateful for all of it.
Anything else you want to add?
I am hoping for the best for everyone and their continued safety throughout this pandemic!
