Seminole State College of Florida is joining the national effort to help raise awareness about the Better FAFSA and drive FAFSA submissions as part of The U.S. Department of Education’s National FAFSA Week of Action April 15-19. Supporting this effort, the College will offer FAFSA labs to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

FAFSA labs will be held at the College’s Sanford/Lake Mary Campus (building L, room 100) Wednesdays, April 17-July 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and Tuesdays, April 23-June 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. These labs not only will allow students and their families to complete or update their 2024-25 Better FAFSA, but also get answers to their questions about the changes to the FAFSA form for 2024-25. Space is limited, and registration is required. Those who plan to attend are encouraged to complete the FAFSA Lab Registration Form as soon as possible.

The FAFSA has undergone a complete overhaul, and students will now use the Better FAFSA to apply for financial aid, including grants, scholarships, work-study funds and loans for the 2024-25 award year and beyond. “Simplified and streamlined, the Better FAFSA will provide more aid to more students than ever before to help pay for college,” according to the U.S. Department of Education. “Submitting the Better FAFSA form is free, takes many students under 30 minutes, and gives them access to the largest source of federal financial aid to help pay for higher education.”

Seminole State’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is urging students to complete the FAFSA now, noting that most students qualify for some kind of aid and having a FAFSA on file is required for many scholarships. Hosting the FAFSA labs is one way the College is helping students complete this vital step in funding their college education.

Preparing for the FAFSA Labs

Students can make the most of the FAFSA Labs by creating an FSA ID beforehand if possible and gathering the necessary documents, including contributor information, to complete the FAFSA.

Students and families can learn about the changes to the 2024-25 FAFSA and find other resources at studentaid.gov.
