Seminole State names Elmore Lowery as academic dean of public safety

Seminole State College of Florida has selected Elmore Lowery, Ed.D., as the academic dean of the College’s Center for Public Safety.
Lowery has a diverse background that spans public safety, criminal justice and education, and he brings with him decades of experience. He is an accomplished, transformational, and conscious leader with over 20 years of experience in education and government organizational leadership and department management. His track record is marked by a commitment to driving initiatives that foster student success and growth in various educational institutions.

Elmore LoweryHis professional experience and achievements extend to his former role as Vice President for Student Support at Community in Schools (CISNC) in Raleigh, North Carolina. In this capacity, he directed daily affairs for CISNC student support teams, oversaw the development and implementation of targeted student support models, and managed key relationships with staff and stakeholders. He has been instrumental in driving positive outcomes and reaching strategic goals.
Lowery has a proven track record of promoting student success, driving innovation, and fostering collaborative educational environments. His dedication to academic excellence, diverse skill set and achievements position him as an asset in education and business development. His vision for community engagement ensures that everyone is part of our mission for educational excellence.

He has also held various positions, including dean of Academic Affairs, professor of criminal justice, and leadership consultant. Additionally, he served as an FBI criminal agent with the terrorism task force (counterintelligence) and an assistant special agent in charge at the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and served in the United States Marine Corps for nine years.
The College's Center for Public Safety houses the criminal justice, emergency medical services, and fire science programs under one roof, providing state-of-the-art classroom and training space.
In his new role as the dean of the Center for Public Safety, Lowery will oversee operational matters related to student learning, instruction, program and curriculum development, program accreditation compliance, and more. He will also liaise with internal and external constituents and set consistent and strong academic standards for the College’s criminal justice, emergency medical services and fire science programs.
Seminole State's Center for Public Safety is a statewide educational resource for all aspects of criminal justice, fire science and EMS. In addition to preparing future first responders, the Center for Public Safety provides advanced, specialized and in-service training for current law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics. The College also offers students an Associate in Science degree in all three disciplines and a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Administration.
