Aerospace and aviation careers aren’t just for pilots. Safe and efficient travel is an effort that takes hundreds of people from engineers to security officers. To showcase these numerous, high-paying opportunities, students are encouraged to come out to the 2020 Aerospace & Aviation Day at the Orlando Sanford International Airport. The event is free with a Seminole State student ID.
Seminole State College of Florida is proud to co-host the event with Seminole County Public Schools, the Orlando Sanford International Airport and Million Air. The event is designed to inspire students to follow their dreams in STEM and present the numerous paths available in the industry.
Speakers during the event will highlight women in the field including Lieutenant Colonel Christine Mau, the first woman to fly the Department of Defense’s newest fighter, the F-15E; Taryn Fleet, an Allegiant Air airbus pilot and Victoria Dass, a Seminole High School student taking part in the school’s Aviation Academy.
Faculty and staff from Seminole State’s fire and criminal justice programs, nursing, construction, engineering technology, and information systems technology will be present to showcase their respective programs and how they are related to careers in aerospace and aviation. Students will also get the chance to network with staff from the airport, its tenants and airline partners.
