RSVP/Order Your Cap and Gown
Graduates participating in Grad Walk or commencement are required to RSVP and wear official Seminole State College regalia. Those who participate will need to purchase their cap and gown for their graduation packet, which will include:
- Academic regalia (cap, gown and tassel)
- Complimentary Honors and Veterans cords (if applicable)
- Reader card
- Guest tickets (for commencement only)
- Parking pass (for commencement only)

Order Regalia
RSVP for graduation and order official Seminole State regalia via the Student Registration & Order Form. Students earning associate degrees and certificates will wear royal blue. Students earning bachelor's degrees will wear navy blue.
- Associate degrees and certificates: royal blue

The cost of regalia (cap, gown and tassel) is $46.99 (plus applicable taxes). Payment will be due upon pickup at the Seminole State Bookstore.

Special Regalia
Special regalia, tassels and hoods provided by Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Beta Lambda and/or the Grindle Honors Institute may also be worn. Questions regarding special regalia should be directed to the departments/organizations offering these special awards.
Honors Cords
Honors graduates are recognized with an honor cord and designation in the graduation program. Grades for the graduating term are not available prior to printing the graduation program and reader cards. Therefore, honors designations for the ceremony are based on graduates’ cumulative GPA earned in the previous term. Final cumulative GPA and honors designations for diplomas/official transcripts will be updated as appropriate after final grades are processed at the end of the term.
Honors Designations
- Cum Laude: 3.2 - 3.49 GPA
- Magna Cum Laude: 3.5 - 3.79 GPA
- Summa Cum Laude: 3.8 - 4.0 GPA

Announcements, Class Rings and Gifts
Graduation announcements and class rings are available through Herff Jones. To order personalized announcements, visit the Herff Jones Graduation Products website. Pick Up Regalia with Grad Packet
Graduation packets will be distributed to those who submitted an Intent to Graduate form and ordered their cap and gown by the established deadlines. Students will be able to pick up their graduation packets, including their regalia, at the campus bookstore selected during the cap and gown order.
Distribution Dates: Monday, Dec. 9 - Wednesday, Dec. 11
Pickup Location: Altamonte Springs or Sanford/Lake Mary Campus bookstores.
Payment for regalia is due at pickup. Visit the Seminole State Bookstore website for hours of operation.
Unable to Pick Up Regalia?
Candidates unable to pick up their graduation packet and tickets (if applicable) may designate a third party to do so by providing them with a letter authorizing Seminole State College to release the packet during the appropriate distribution dates listed above. Letters must include the name of the person designated to pick up the packet as well as the candidate’s name, student ID number and signature.
Cap Decorating Rules
Graduates are encouraged to decorate their cap for the ceremony. The decoration must lie flat against the cap to prevent obstructing the view of others. Language on decorated caps must be appropriate. The College reserves the right to request that graduates change their cap if it is deemed inappropriate.
