Digital Media Program Success Story: Alexia Wilson

I was sitting in the back of the room at the Digital Media Meet and Greet event. I was contemplating dropping out of the school because it was very challenging, and I was intimidated by all the other talented students. One of the professors of the program looked me in my eyes and said "there is something very special about you. I can see it in your eyes." She then yelled across the room to another professor to come over.  She said to the other professor " isn't there something special about this student?" They began to talk about me as if I wasn't there. Both Professors shook my hand " Welcome to the Digital Media Program Alexia we are excited to see your work."

That was the seed, the word of encouragement that kept me going. For a while, I didn't believe there was anything special about me, but I kept going to my classes because my professors believed in me.

Many schools offer this program. I have gained so much more than just a degree from Seminole State College. I gained the confidence and the skills to compete in this very competitive industry. The teachers here at Seminole State challenge us and gave us real-world work experience. This prepared me with the tools to work and manage a variety of design projects. The way the digital media program is designed we had projects that came with a lot of guidance and other projects that came with very little guidance. The design field is always changing. The Seminole State Digital Media Program taught me how to independently teach myself new design techniques to stay current in my field.  I was surrounded by teachers and faculty who believe in me, and it made a difference in my life.
