Criminal Justice Licensure

Basic Law Enforcement Academy

The Basic Law Enforcement Academy provides students with the training for the primary responsibility of law enforcement officers in protecting lives and property. All of their duties vary but are rooted in achieving this one responsibility. In almost all situations, law enforcement officers are expected to fulfill their responsibilities whether on or off duty.

This program prepares students for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) exam. Students cannot be employed as law enforcement officers in Florida unless they pass this training and the state exam. If you choose to become licensed in multiple states or practice in a different state, visit https://www.iadlest.org/ and select the states in which you intend to practice from the drop-down menu to view their licensing requirements.
