Signature Project

U-2 Dragon Lady Avionics Tech Refresh

Description of project/metrics:

"The Lockheed U-2, nicknamed “Dragon Lady”, is a single-engine, high altitude reconnaissance aircraft that’s been operated from the 1950s by the U.S. Air Force.

The Avionics Technology Refresh efforts modernized the U-2’s onboard systems to readily accept and use new technology (communications, navigation, display, etc).

The modern cockpit helps the pilot by enhancing the presentation of the data the aircraft collects which enables faster, better-informed decisions.

This is a multi-year, multi-phase effort, valued at $50 million. The total value of efforts I’ve participated in at Skunk Works is valued at $80+ million.

Proud project moments:

I provided planning support such as: developing and maintaining the Integrated Master schedule, Critical Path Methodology, and Risk Management, while learning about the major aspects of overall program support. I interact across a variety of program functional organizations such as engineering, procurement, finance, business management, contracts, production, and quality control. I use Earned Value Management (EVM) to track progress performance as well as money spent.

I’m proud that my feedback was used to help mitigate schedule issues and that I formed meaningful relationships with Program Management to help bring U-2 to first flight. I’m honored to be a trusted advisor."
