Signature Project
Osceola Regional Medical Center Lobby Expansion (Phase 1)
Description of project/ metrics:
- 21,906 square feet
- $15 millon
- Isolating the existing main entrance of an operating facility by building a temporary exterior wall within an active corridor.
- Building a temporary patient drop off canopy.
- Moving main entrance location.
- Demolish existing lobby vaulted structure, building back existing lobby with flat roof and extending it.
- Lobby expansion will provide the hospital with a bigger lobby, offices, café, and chapel.
- Duration is 9 months.
- Complexity centers on schedule management because it is very difficult to conduct construction activities within an active hospital. There are ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) requirements that deals with dust and mold containment and debris removal. Stakeholders care deeply about how the construction activities could affect the patients. All of these stakeholders have to be considered during the construction process.
Proud project moments:
"I am responsible for assisting and work very closely with the Senior Superintendents or Superintendents in all field related activity such as jobsite safety, cost, quality, and schedule. I also work closely with management staff regarding all aspects of the project. I maintain relationships with clients, architects, consultants and subcontractors."
"I am most proud of the trust that I have built with the superintendents. They feel confident and comfortable with leaving me in charge of the jobsite when they are away on other projects, conducting presentations or enjoying hard earned vacations."
