FFP0027 Fire Standards Part 1

This program prepares the student for a career as a state certified professional firefighter. This program consists of three parts (Fire Standards Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3) and includes both Firefighter I and Firefighter II (Professional Firefighter) curriculum. The entire sequence of three courses must be completed successfully in order to be eligible to take the state exam for certification as a career firefighter.

Students must have application on file in Fire Science/EMS Office (PS100) and attend mandatory orientation. High Impact Practices (HIPs) are research-based instructional practices that promote active learning and real-world application, empowering students to achieve higher levels of academic and personal growth. The Collaborative Projects and Work-Based Learning HIPs are designed to help students develop teamwork and professional skills by engaging with peers, faculty, and industry professionals. Work-Based Learning involves direct experience in a career-related setting. Florida’s work-based learning statutes define the necessary conditions for meaningful student engagement in real-world tasks.
