To say that Matthew Salmon is one busy Raider is an understatement. In addition to pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Administration through our Center for Public Safety, he works full-time as a patrol sergeant for the DeLand Police Department and is the father of four children ages 6 to 6 months.
After graduating from our Basic Law Enforcement Academy in May 2017 and starting his professional career in law enforcement the same year, he returned to Seminole State, earning his A.A. degree in Spring 2023. He continued his academic journey in his current program, which he is set to complete in Spring 2025. So how does he do it all?
"Without the ability to do my program online, this wouldn't be possible," he says. Our online courses provide the flexibility he needs to keep up with work and family responsibilities and focus on his education. Plus, he notes that his experience at Seminole State has been "excellent."
"Anytime anybody asks me, I tell them Seminole State is the way to go," Matthew says. His outstanding commitment to his work, family and education earned him the "We Change Lives" certificate at our October Board of Trustees meeting. Congrats, Matthew, and thanks for letting us be Your Learning Partner for Career Success!
