A student art exhibition is on display at Sanford’s City Hall featuring works of art from several Seminole State College of Florida students. The gallery, curated by Seminole State’s Center for the Fine & Performing Arts art gallery director Viktoryia McGrath, is on the second floor of City Hall, 300 N. Park Ave., in Sanford.
The presented works were recently completed during Drawing I, Drawing II, Painting, Printmaking and Design Fundamentals I classes with the students utilizing a variety of materials to meticulously execute the thought-provoking projects.
This collaborative opportunity with the City of Sanford and the City of Sanford Public Art Commission allows students to receive their first experience of public display and to gather feedback from the community.
“The Department of Art and Communication at Seminole State College of Florida is thrilled that our art students have an opportunity to exhibit their work for the community in the Mayor's Gallery at Sanford City Hall,” said Dr. Michele Cuomo, dean of arts and communication. “The gallery exhibit not only helps build students' professional portfolios, but also provides them with the satisfaction of knowing their art is enjoyed by City of Sanford employees and guests.”
“We are proud to collaborate with Seminole State College both to provide the exhibit opportunity for their students and to enhance our public space with art,” said Sanford Mayor Art Woodruff. “SSC is a great resource and partner to the city and to many other organizations in the area. We appreciate the opportunity to work with them.”
The Mayor’s Gallery is open during City Hall business hours. Visit sanfordfl.gov/publicart for more information.
