Benjamin Franklin Henry was born in Oxford, England and emigrated to the United States with his parents at age 7 and graduated from Lake Mary High School in 2014 at age 17.
While at Lake Mary High School, he worked on the school’s student Information Technology (IT) support team which sparked his interest in pursuing an education in Information Systems Technology. When he started at Seminole State for his Associate in Arts (A.A.) Degree, he also began his own business helping seniors and small businesses with on-demand IT support with televisions, smartphones, computers, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), networking, security systems, and software support.
When he learned that Seminole State would be offering a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (B.S. IST) track along with Cyber Security, he decided to stay at the College and make use of the provided online classes which allowed him to maintain a flexible schedule and continue working while going to school.
In early 2019, he was offered a job at .decimal, a Sanford company that manufactures radiation therapy treatment devices for hospitals and cancer centers across the U.S., to enhance the company’s security posture, strengthen its network, and consult on matters of security, as well as maintain compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Benjamin is now the Security & Compliance Specialist at .decimal and credits Seminole State for giving him the IT skills, expertise, and general know-how to be a part of the growing Cyber Security industry, and to be able to continue his education in the field.
