Congratulations, Raider! You successfully applied for graduation and ordered your cap and gown. Now you're ready to attend graduation. Here's what you need to know in preparation for your celebration and beyond.

Grad Walk

Seminole State provides a safe environment for all students, employees and visitors. We encourage “if you See something, Say something” by reporting any suspicious behavior or activity to our campus security team members or law enforcement.

You and your guests will be guided to parking lot #22 by signs once you enter the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. Entry to lot #22 will be limited to the east side entrance off Campus Lane. Please obey all instructions given by Seminole State security staff and Seminole County deputy sheriffs.

Be sure to turn the tassel on your cap to the left before you cross the stage at Grad Walk. That way your tassel will be on the correct side for your professional photo that will be taken after you exit the stage. As a reminder, all graduates are required to wear official Seminole State regalia. Professional attire and appropriate footwear is strongly recommended. The College reserves the right to request that graduates change inappropriate attire before being allowed to participate in the ceremony.

Hearing your name as you cross the stage will be a big moment for you and your guests. Be sure to bring the pre-printed reader card provided in your graduation packet. When prompted during the ceremony, you should hand you reader card to the announcer. The card is pre-printed with your name and honor designation (if applicable). If your name is difficult to pronounce, please clearly print the phonetic pronunciation on the card, and be prepared to assist the announcer.

The address information on the back of the reader card should be completed prior to arrival at Grad Walk. This is the address that will be used to send the proofs of photos taken at the ceremony by GradImages. The address listed is not associated with the diploma mailing.

Since tickets aren't required to attend Grad Walk, you can invite as many guests as you'd like. Bring the whole family! If your party will include children, please be sure that you have made arrangements for them prior to arriving at Grad Walk. Children may not be left unattended on campus.

In the interest of health and safety and with consideration for the location and logistics of Grad Walk, pets are not allowed. Only service animals are permitted. Individuals with disabilities may be accompanied by service animals on campus without providing prior notice. The College is committed to providing reasonable accommodation to individuals with disabilities and fulfilling its responsibilities under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act (ADAAA), and Florida Statute 413.08.

After you graduate, you may be wondering when you'll receive your diploma/certificate and when your transcript will be updated with your degree. Not to worry:

  • You will receive a complimentary diploma/certificate cover at Grad Walk.
  • Diplomas/certificates will be mailed approximately six weeks (excluding holidays and campus closings) following graduation.
  • Transcripts that reflect the degree earned will be available approximately four to six weeks (excluding holidays and campus closings) after the ceremony.
