Give to the Hoofman-Fowler Endowed Scholarship
Formed on Nov. 1, 2020, the Fowler Family Foundation is a Texas nonprofit organization and IRS tax-exempt public charitable corporation. Its bylaws authorize a broad and diverse range of charitable activities.
As Founding Chair, Laura Fowler takes greatest delight in teaching the principles of charitable leadership that cause organizations to thrive. She considers Giving Feels Great™ the culmination of a long career in which she counseled and defended many wonderful charitable and civic leaders. Giving Feels Great™ is a program offered mostly to business owners and entrepreneurs to preach to them an inspiring secular message about giving. It is the Foundation's fervent belief that once one earns and reserves enough to pay the mortgage and the car payment and the credit card bills, take care of one’s loved ones and a few other things, little joy is derived from simply investing without any vision. Strangely enough, those most moved by this sermon are business owners and start-ups looking to do good and weave that into their daily business operations.
An accomplished creditor’s rights and bankruptcy attorney, jointly licensed in Texas and Florida, Robert Hoofman has been active in many civic and charitable organizations his entire professional life. Robert graciously donates all his time serving as CEO.
Robert delights in service to his Rotary Club, Northwest Austin Rotary Club, serving on the speakers committee and personally inviting local charitable leaders whose marvelous and unique missions include the preservation of bats, human treatment of cats, conservation of mermaid habitat (the San Marcos River) as well as more traditional arts and preservation societies in Austin.
"The simple fact is that without scholarships, neither Robert nor I would have been able to attend the University of Central Florida, graduating in 1976, or law school. It is the primary reason we now have funds sufficient to share with others."
The Hoofman-Fowler Endowed Scholarship has been established to provide tuition and book assistance to students who express an interest in art and are enrolled in an art program administered by the academic dean, Arts and Communications, at Seminole State College. Eligible students must demonstrate financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education and Higher Education regulations of the State of Florida.
