This is an advanced/specialized training course for law enforcement or corrections officers. The Instructor Techniques Course was organized and developed to enhance the criminal justice officer's knowledge, skills, and ability to provide efficient and effective training to fellow criminal justice personnel in skill or subject areas dictated by local need. Students should have successfully completed the basic recruit training course or have been exempted and possess sufficient experience and background in the area of public or community relations to have mastered the standard core of knowledge. Officers who successfully complete the Florida General Instructor course may apply this course toward satisfying their mandatory retraining requirement per Florida statutes. Enrollment is limited. General Instructor Techniques DATE: April 22-May 1, 2024 TIME: 8:00am - 5:00pm Mon-Fri (week 1)/ Mon-Wed (week 2) PLACE: Seminole State College Sanford/Lake Mary Campus Center for Public Safety, Room: PS 154 INSTRUCTOR: Mike Hawkins This course is part of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission approved Specialized Training Program. It is one of a series of non-sequential general career skills training courses. Courses in the Specialized Training Program are designed to enhance an officer’s knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job he or she performs. Courses in the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission Specialized Training Program are designed for post-basic or in-service training to enhance an officer’s knowledge, skills, and abilities in a specific area, pursuant to Rule 11B-35.007, F.A.C. This specialized instructor course provides the required training an officer must have to apply for a General Instructor Certification. Students enrolled in a Specialized Instructor Course must achieve a passing score of at least 85% on the written end-of-course examination on the first attempt and demonstrate the required proficiency skills, pursuant to Rule 11B-35.0024.
